Purdue University Northwest - Brightspace: Multi Evaluator Guide

Overview

When creating/editing any assignments within Brightspace, instructors can allow for multiple evaluators for any given assignment. This will allow multiple individuals with the role of Instructor, Grader, TA, etc. to submit a point grade and written feedback for any student submission. Additionally, you can designate a publisher who must review that evaluation submitted by said evaluator(s) prior to finalizing the sending of this information to the student.

Designating Evaluators

  1. Navigate to Activities -> Assignments -> Edit the assignment for which you would like to add Evaluators.
  2. Expand the section for “Evaluation and Feedback” settings.
  3. Click the button that says “Select Evaluators”.
  4. Select which users you would like to designate as Evaluators from the pop-up window. *Please note, users must have one of the following roles to appear in this window as an eligible evaluator: Instructor, TA, Grader
  5. You will now see those users’ names appear in the settings window confirming that you have set them as Evaluators.

Designating Publishers

  1. After you have designated Evaluators for an assignment you are given three options for selecting Publishers, they are as follows:
    1. “All evaluators can publish any evaluations” - This setting essentially makes all evaluators publishers for their and all other evaluators’ feedback.
    2. “Evaluators can only publish their evaluation” -  This setting allows evaluators to be publishers only for evaluations they have written.
    3. “Manually select publishers” - This allows publishers to be manually selected. They do not have to be evaluators and will have access to all evaluations.

Manage Allocations

  1. This feature assigns individual learners in your course to specific evaluators.
  2. Click on “Manage Allocations”

 

  1. Select an allocation method
    1. “Allocate all evaluators to every learner” - All evaluators can submit feedback for any student.
    2. “Randomly allocate 1 evaluator to every learner evenly” - Students are split evenly between the available evaluators. No one student will be assigned to multiple evaluators.
  1. Click on done to assign learners to the selected evaluators.

Coordinate Evaluators

When multiple evaluators are assigned to one learner there are two options for handling the evaluations of that learner:

  1. “One shared Evaluation” - both evaluators will work on the same evaluation for their shared learners together.
  2. “Multiple Individual Evaluations” - Evaluators work on their own evaluations separately. Publishers aggregate results into one final evaluation and release it to learners.
