You can use Video Note in a number of places throughout the Brightspace Learning Environment, including Discussion boards, Emails, and Text Submission Assignments. These videos are embedded in an html file and require the viewer to be logged in to Brightspace to watch. There is a 30 minute limit for these videos.
Note: For now, Video Note is not working properly on Safari. To create a Video Note, we recommend using Google Chrome or Firefox.
From Discussions, select on the Discussion Topic you are going to reply to and select Start a New Thread.
Click Insert Stuff while in the text box.
Click Add Video Note.
You should be able to see your computer’s webcam video on the screen. You may need to give your browser permission to access your webcam and microphone. To record your message, click New Recording.
To finalize your message, click Stop Recording. Click Next.
Enter a Title, Description, and select the Audio Language. To generate captions automatically, select Automatically generate captions from audio. Click Next and then, click Insert.
NOTE: these captions should be 100% accurate
If you upload a video using the video note file option users can watch the 3-minute video directly in Brightspace.
- Select Start Thread while in your Discussion Board post then click Insert Stuff.
OPTION 1: Click Add Video Note and then Upload file. Select the locally saved file you want to upload. This tool allows you to search for videos you have on your computer.
Click Next, and enter a title and description. Also, you can select to generate captions automatically. Click Next, and then Insert.
OPTION 2: Select Video Note Search. This tool allows you to search for video notes you have already created.
Enter your search terms in the Search Notes field, then select Search. You can also perform a blank search to see all search results.
Select the Video Note you want to insert. Click Add.
