Overview

This article is for faculty and staff of the College of Science who wish to connect to a managed printer from their windows computer.

Instructions

To install a network printer on Windows systems, follow these steps:

  1. In Windows Click the search bar, and type \\print.science.purdue.edu

Windows search bar

  1. Press Enter.
  2. If you are not on a domain machine, you will be prompted for your username and password. Use boilerad\username and your career account password. Please note, it will not accept your credentials without boilerad\ in front of your username.
  3. In the dialog box that opens, scroll to the correct printer name (typically based on building, location, and printer type. E.g: Chas2065mfp, brwn2015co, etc).
  4. Double click on the correct printer to install.

Printers in the College of Science use a three-part naming convention. They are:

  1. The 4-letter abbreviation of the building. A list of the buildings and their abbreviations can be found on the Purdue campus map webpage.
  2. Room number
  3. Signifier for the type of printer:
    • Co for color
    • Bw for black and white
    • Mfp for multi-function printer (scan, fax, etc.)

For example, the phys144co printer is located in the Physics building, room 144 and is a color printer.
