Overview

There may be times that you need to remote into your Purdue computer. This will most likely be because you are working remotely or using your personal computer.  This will replicate your ability to work the same way you would while on campus. This article will guide you through this process step-by-step, so that you can access everything you need.

Before you remote in, please be sure that you have confirmed the following:

  • Your full Computer Name. If you are unsure of this information, please reference this article to get that information.
  • Ensure you are connected to the VPN. If you are unsure of how to so do, please reference this article for instructions.
  • The computer you are remoting into must be powered on and connected to the Purdue domain.

*Please Note: These instructions are intended for users in the Daniels School of Business. Other colleges and areas of Purdue may have slightly different requirements, depending on how things are configured in their area.

Instructions

Please follow these steps on your personal or secondary work device:

  1. Open the Remote Desktop Connection application.

Open Remote Desktop Connection

  1. In the box that opens, click on the "show options" arrow.

Expand the Show Options arrow

  1. Fill in the computer name and user name:
    1. For the computer name, type the full computer name followed by ".boilerad.purdue.edu"
    2. For the user name, type "boilerad\" followed by your user name for your career account.
    3. Click Connect

Fill in your computer name and user name, and then click connect.

  1. Enter your password, and click OK. This will be your standard career account password.

Enter your password and click Ok.

  1. You should see a screen come up, and it will look just like you are logged in on your office computer.
