Why are usernames changing?
Usernames are being changed to remove conflicts and consolidate usernames between campuses giving users a single username experience. This allows for improved access to system-wide IT resources and easier implementation of system-wide IT initiatives.
How long will this change take?
The change will begin in the evening of your change date at 4:00 PM and process overnight to complete at approximately 7: 00 AM EST. Some connected systems will continue to process changes to get in sync with the new usernames for up to two full days after this.
Can I log in to service during the change?
Yes, you can continue to log in to some career account services with the old username until the completion of the process at 7:00 AM EST, however some systems might not be available.
Why is my Purdue West Lafayette username changing?
Majority of users are dependent on PFW specific systems and the career account changing has less impact. Career account related systems are also more resilient to username changes and require fewer manual changes in downstream systems.
Can I request my PFW username change instead?
Yes, you will need to open a ticket with the help desk and have it directed to Identity at least 1 full day prior to your change date. This will result in the PFW username changing to match the career account name.
What if I have my PFW username changed?
You might experience a longer disruption in access across more systems you regularly use.
Will my email address change?
Yes, you will log in and send emails from the new address.
Will I still get email sent to my old address?
Yes, you will continue to be able to receive email sent to your old address
What if I have a vanity address?
You will continue to have the vanity address on your mailbox
Will email forwarding continue to work?
Yes, email forwarding will continue to work, however emails will arrive at the forwarded address from your new sending address.
What systems will I experience an access outage in?
You will have access disruptions in central services from West Lafayette. Some of the systems impacted will be:
- West Lafayette email and Microsoft O365
- SAP systems like SuccessFactors
- Webclock
- West Lafayette SSO
- Purdue West Lafayette Banner
- Adobe Software
- FileLocker
- myPrudue Portal
What should I do if I can’t log in to a service the day after the change?
If you are unable to login to a service the day after the change, please contact the help desk and have them direct a ticket to the Identity and Access Management team.
