Overview
Sometimes you may be asked to provide the serial number or service tag from your Purdue computer. This will most likely be a request from IT when we are assisting you, and will most often be a sticker located on your device. This will help us look up your computer information more quickly, and helps us aid you in any issues that may arise. This article will give you step-by-step instruction on how to find this.
Please Note: We are also providing links below that will lead you to Dell's articles on this information. We are covering 'method 1' in these instructions, as they are the simplest. These are simply for your reference:

Instructions
First we will go over the service tag location on desktop computers, and then we will go over the location on laptops.
To locate the service tag on your desktop:
- On your desktop tower, you will see a sticker on the top (or side, depending on how your computer is sitting).
- The Service Tag number will be the first line of information on this (this is also the serial number). The other information on this sticker may vary between specific models.

To locate the service tag on your laptop:
- It is best to close and unplug your laptop first.
- Carefully flip the laptop over, so that you can see the bottom cover.
- The Service Tag sticker will be located here, with a QR code on the left. You are looking for the ST number (usually in the middle).

You are finished! You should now be able to easily locate the service tag number of your Purdue computer.
