Copying content in Brightspace courses is a practical way to streamline course creation and ensure consistency. Follow these steps to copy course content while excluding Pearson DI modules and links. Please contact the Purdue IT Helpdesk if assistance is needed.

Step 1: Log In to Brightspace

  • Access your Brightspace account using your PFW credentials.

  • Navigate to the Homepage and ensure you have access to both the source course (the one from which to copy) and the destination course (the one to which to copy).

    • Note: You will need to know the name/title of the source course for Step 4.

Step 2: Go to the Destination Course

  • Select the course you want to copy content into.

  • From the course Homepage, click on "Course Admin" in the navigation bar.

Step 3: Select Import/Export/Copy Components

  • In the "Course Admin" section, locate and click on Import/Export/Copy Components.

  • Choose "Copy Components from Another Org Unit" as the option.

  • Click Search for Offering to find the source course.

Step 4: Choose the Source Course

  • Search for and select the source course (the course you want to copy content from).

    • You may also go to the course you want to copy from, copy the course title, and then paste it into the search box.

  • Select “Add Selected”

Step 5: Choose Components to Copy

  • Choose "Select Components" instead of "Copy All Components".

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and Select All Components

    • Under Content, choose “Select individual items to copy.”

    • Under External Learning Tool links, choose “Select individual items to copy.”

      • Keep “Include associated files” checked

    • Then select Continue

Step 6: Select Content Modules and Topics to Copy

  • Select each of the components you would like to copy, but DO NOT select anything that starts with MyLab or Pearson.

  • Select Continue after selecting your components.

Step 7: Select External Learning Tools to Copy

  • Select any External Learning Tools you would like to include (such as Kaltura video links.

  • DO NOT select anything starting with MyLab, Pearson, Instructor Self Service, or Integration Support. 

  • Click Continue.

Step 8: Confirm Components to Copy

  • Verify you have selected all the correct components or modify components if needed.

  • Select “Offset all dates of copied components” if desired.

  • Select Finish.

Step 9: Adjust Content as Needed

  • Go to the Content tab and review modules to verify that no MyLab or Pearson links have been copied.

  • If you find a MyLab or Pearson link, select the arrow next to it--> Choose Delete Topic-->select Permanently delete both the topic from Content and the associated file or activity from the course.

  • You are now ready to connect to the course using the PFW Access Pearson instructions.
