Running Ansys on Servers

Body

Licensing

Ansys is set up to run on any Engineering Purdue IT system. However, you must tell it what kind of license to use. It defaults to the research license. You can find more licensing info in this document.

Using the GUI

  1. Start an X server (such as VcXsrv or Cygwin; you would have to download and install one of these packages on a "self-supported" system).
  2. ssh into a server.
  3. Load the Ansys module: module load ansys
    1. Overview about lmod
  4. Ansys Workbench can be started by running ansys_workbench
