Installing an Engineering Printer in Ubuntu 25.10

1. Open System Settings.

2. Go to "Printers" in settings, and click "Add Printer"

3. Enter the path for the print server, formatted as smb://ecnprint#.itap.purdue.edu

The server you need to access will be given to you by Purdue IT. Select the server when the dialog box finds it, and then click "Unlock".

4. Enter your username as: boilerad\<YOURUSERNAME> , substituting your career account username. Use your career account password. Click "Unlock".

5. Select the printer you wish to use from the list and then click "Add", making sure to select the "-ps" spool.

6. You will need to select the correct printer make/model and features. This can be provided by Purdue IT support staff if you don't happen to have the information. The "Generic Postscript Printer" driver may also work for simple print jobs with many different brands of printers.
