Through Purdue's Google partnership, you may be eligible to enroll (free of charge) in the Google AI Professional Certificate course. If you have not received an email with instructions, future expansion to other groups will be announced soon. This article explains how to enroll and access this course using your Purdue account.
What is the Google AI Professional Certificate?
In this program, you’ll deep dive into AI through practical activities designed for real workplace tasks. You’ll learn how to use generative AI to sharpen your strategy, boost your creativity, and streamline the repetitive parts of your day. You’ll also build a portfolio of AI projects to show off your new skills.
You’ll learn how to:
- Use expert prompting and responsible judgment to apply AI confidently.
- Strengthen your professional skills by using AI to generate plans, tailor content, and analyze data.
- Build your own personal suite of reusable AI assets during 20+ hands-on activities.

How do I enroll in the course?
The Google AI Professional Certificate is offered through the "Grow With Google" Purdue Online catalog. This class is offered to eligible participants free of charge. (If you see a cost associated with the course, you have most likely selected the incorrect course in the Course Catalog.)
- Using your web browser, navigate to the "Grow with Google Career Certificate" course offering in the Purdue Online Grow With Google course catalog.
- Click "Add to Cart".
- Confirm that the "Total for This Item" is "$0.00." If you see a charge, remove this item from your cart, and ensure that you are at the correct course catalog item (linked in step #1) above.
- Click "Proceed to Checkout".
- (If you are already signed in to your Purdue Account, proceed to Step 6.) Choose "Purdue Account Login" and sign in with your Purdue career account and password.
- Provide your information as requested - Home address, email address, phone number, etc. Click "Continue" when completed.
- Choose your Purdue Affiliation, and enter in your location information. Click "Continue" when completed.
- Read and accept the Terms of Use. Click "Continue" when completed.
- Review the registration information, ensuring that the total cost of the course is still "$0.00" dollars. If confirmed, choose to "Pay Now."
- This course is offered through Coursera. An email will be sent to your @purdue.edu email address with further information and next steps to begin your Coursera course. Note: It can take several hours for the email to arrive. If you do not receive this email, check your Junk/Spam folder for emails from Google, Coursera, or Brightspace.

Q: Do I have to sign up for the Gemini Pro free trial to complete the Google AI Professional Certificate Training?
No. While Gemini Pro offers advanced tools, they are not required to fulfill the certificate coursework. You can complete the training modules and labs with the free Gemini Enterprise EDU license, no credit card required.
Q: Can Purdue IT help me write prompts or troubleshoot Gemini output?
No. Purdue IT provides access and licensing support but does not offer coaching or troubleshooting inside Gemini. Please use Google’s help resources for usage guidance.
Q: Can I add completion of this certificate to my Purdue employee training record?

Such information entered into unauthorized tools could become included in the AI system and be exposed to inappropriate audiences. Using Purdue information with tools that are not licensed by Purdue may cause that information to become the property of the tool provider. Information exposed in this way could be used in the AI tool’s next training model.
