How to launch your AD Migration on your Windows Computer: 

  1. Save any work before moving to step 2. 

  1. From your Windows Start menu, open Software Center.

  1. Click on Operating Systems.

  1. Select the AD Migration deployment for your current situation.  

    1. Select and install "Active Directory Migration-No VPN" if on campus and connected directly to network (not wifi) and follow on screen prompts. 
    2. Select and install "Active Directory Migration-VPN only" if remote and on VPN - be sure to follow prompts and refer to the guide below for more detailed instructions. 
  2. Once complete, ensure you are migrated using the following link. 

If you do not see either option, please reboot and try again before contacting the service desk for more help. 

BoilerAD Migration while on VPN  

Prerequisites  

For PFW ONLY:  

  1. Open Software Center.  

  1. Click Installation Status on the left.  

Verify “RSAT: Alternate Installer is already installed.”

For Both PFW/PNW:  

  1. Click the Start button, your name, then Switch User.

  1. On the bottom-right, ensure there is a padlock and key icon as shown in the image below:

  1. If something from the above is not installed or missing, please contact IT for assistance.  

Main instructions  

  1. Log back into Windows.  Open Cisco Secure Connect and connect to the VPN.  

  1. Open Software Center. Click on Operating Systems on the left.  

  1. Now click “Active Directory Migration-VPN only”  

  1. Click Install (Verbiage and branding may vary depending on campus).

 5. Click Install again (Exact verbiage may vary depending on campus).

  1. After several moments, you should see some popup messages.

  2. Your computer will reboot and auto login to a special migration account. You will see the Start Screen which may hide the next popup message. Click the Start button to close the Start Screen.  

  3. The computer will reboot a second time.  

  1. The computer will auto login the migration account again.  

  1. When you see the message below you will need to connect to VPN again within the next 10 minutes.

  • Open Cisco Secure Client. The VPN address is webvpn.pfw.edu (this should already be shown).  

  • Connect with your Career Account username and password. The migration process will continue shortly after the VPN is reconnected.  

  1.  After a third reboot, the computer will auto login again.  

  1. You will get another VPN connect prompt giving you 10 minutes to reconnect to the VPN again.

  1. The computer will reboot a fourth time to the Windows login screen.  Under the username and password fields, it will say “Sign in to: BOILERAD.”

  1. Before typing your username and password, click the lock icon on the lower-right.  Use this to sign into the VPN first (you will not have to do this every time).

  2.  Once the VPN is connected, login with your career account  

  • Files and setting should look the same as they did prior to migration  

  • Office products will need to be signed into once logged in  (Teams, outlook, one drive, etc)
