How do I change my preferred name in Brightspace?

Overview

This article describes how to change a persons preferred name in Brightspace.

Instructions

Change your preferred first name using myPurdue and it will be displayed as your first name within Brightspace. 

Important: You cannot change your name directly in Brightspace.  You must use myPurdue.

1. Log in with your Purdue Career Account at https://mypurdue.purdue.edu
2. Click on 'Name Change info'.  For students, this will be under the 'Personal Information' section.  
   
   
   
   For Faculty, this will be under the 'Tools' section.
   
   
    
3. On the 'Update Preferred First Name and Name Change Information' page, enter your 'Preferred First Name' in the box provided.
   
   
4. Click 'Submit'.
