Cognos Access

There are three different aspects of Cognos Access: license for system access, data roles for data access, and authoring capability for the ability to write reports.

• A license is required by all users in order to log into Cognos
  • This can be checked by verifying the user is in the AD group PWL_320_sap_bi_enh_consumer
  • Instructions on requesting access can be found here: https://www.purdue.edu/bicc/tools/cognos/access.php
• Data access is needed for the data areas you want to run reports on
  • There are a various amount of data roles which start with "PWL_320_bi_data_" and it depends on the specific data role needed
  • Student Data Access: https://www.purdue.edu/bicc/data/student/access.php
  • Business Data Access: https://www.purdue.edu/bicc/data/business/access.php
• Authoring capability is needed by users who need to be able to author reports
  • This can be checked by verifying the user is in the AD group PWL_320_sap_bi_professional
  • Instructions on requesting access can be found here: https://www.purdue.edu/bicc/tools/cognos/access.php
