In April 2024, the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a new ruling revising the current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which requires that all student-facing digital and web content are accessible (e.g., documents, videos, Brightspace content, etc.). Digital Accessibility Is Now Mandatory.
Trainings and live drop-in sessions are available to show the instructional community how to create accessible course materials.
The purpose of this ruling is to ensure that disabled people are not excluded from participating in (nor denied benefits from) services, programs, and activities of public entities. Purdue needs to comply by April 24, 2026.
