Overview
Purdue University uses a mobile-first identification model for students. For most students, the Purdue Mobile ID serves as their official University identification and primary credential for accessing campus services and facilities. Physical ID cards are issued only in approved exception cases.
Why Purdue is Mobile First for Students
Purdue adopted a mobile-first approach to provide students with a more secure, convenient, and modern identification experience. Mobile IDs allow students to use a device they already carry to access campus resources, residence halls, dining services, recreation facilities, libraries, and other University services.
This approach also improves security by reducing the number of physical credentials in circulation and supports Purdue's long-term strategy to standardize on modern credential technology across campus.
Exceptions
Students who do not have a compatible smartphone or who do not have a mobile device may be eligible for a physical Purdue ID card.
