How do I find my MAC address in macOS?

Overview

This article provides steps to find your MAC (Media Access Control) address from an Apple Macintosh with an operating system of macOS.

Instructions

Tahoe (macOS 26) - How to find a wired MAC address:

1. Open 'System Preferences' and select 'Wi-Fi'.
2. Click ‘Details…” on the connected network
3. Click the 'Hardware’ tab.
4. Your MAC Address is labeled 'MAC Address'.

How to find a wired MAC address:

1. Open 'System Preferences' and select 'Network'.
2. From the 'Show' drop-down list, select 'Built-in Ethernet'.
3. Select the 'Ethernet ' tab.
4. Your MAC Address is labeled 'Ethernet ID'.

How to find a wireless MAC address:

1. Open 'System Preferences' and select ‘Network’.
2. Click ‘Details…” On the connected network
3. Click the 'Hardware’ tab.
4. Your MAC Address is labeled 'MAC Address '.

Troubleshooting

If you are on Mac OS 10.2 or earlier, select the 'TCP/IP' tab instead of the 'Ethernet' tab. Your wired MAC Address will be labeled as 'Ethernet Address'.
