Details

InStep Software is a leading provider of real-time performance management and predictive analytics software solutions for the utility, oil and gas, water management and  manufacturing industries.  InStep's software products extend the investment in modern control, monitoring and smart devices by collecting, storing, displaying, analyzing and reporting the information provided by these systems.  InStep's software products are used by many of the world's leading companies on a plant and corporate wide basis to actively manage and analyze the ever growing amount of real-time operational and asset health related information.

The Purdue implementation of InStep energy management products will provide a framework for data collection, analysis, and predictive modeling of campus utility production and demand.  Information will be collected from a number of different systems, including Wade Power Plant production information, building control systems, electrical metering, and potable water consumption.  This data will be archived in the InStep system, and will provide a ready source of information for discovering, capturing and validating energy saving measures.

Several InStep products have been or are currently being implemented.  A data historian, eDNA, collects and archives energy system point data and is used for historical trending, condition alerting, monitoring, and reporting of systems.  InStep PRISM uses eDNA historian data to create predictive analytic models of monitored equipment.  PRISM enables predictive alerting on outliers and enables pending or current system failure identification based on historical performance.  InStep EBS combines collected and imported data with customer accounting, enabling services such as integrated water billing and external utility billing management.

Each product has both 'thick desktop' and 'thin web' client interfaces.  Access is controlled by Physical Facilities and is currently limited to Physical Facilities users.  These systems are administered by Administrative Computing for Physical Facilities.
