UniTime – Permission Denied Error

Overview

When in UniTime it is possible to receive a permission denied error when attempting to perform an action that is expected to be allowed.  There are multiple reasons why this can happen and the following list contains some of the more common reasons this can occur:

  • The most common is the login session has timed out.
  • If UniTime is open in multiple tabs or windows in the browser, logging out of UniTime tab will log out of UniTime in all of the tabs.
  • The login session can also be closed due to logging out of another CAS authenticated system.
  • Multiple UniTime tabs can be open in the browser and a switch to another UniTime term or role in one table will affect all tabs.

Instructions

To resolve the permission denied error the following steps can be taken:

  • In the upper right hand corner of the page click on the “Click here to change the session / role.” link.
  • If the login session has expired then a prompt to log in will appear.
    • Follow the login prompts to log in.
    • Once logged in, check the upper right hand corner of the page to verify the system is connected to the term and role that is wanted to be used.
    • If not click on the “Click here to change the session / role.” link again and select the appropriate term and role.
  • If the login is not expired the list of available academic sessions and roles will be displayed
    • Click on the appropriate role and session.
  • It should now be possible to take the action that the permission denied error referenced.
