Install SAP GUI with Secure Login Client from Purdue Community Hub

Overview

SAP GUI with SLC is available in the Purdue Community Hub. Purdue Career credentials are required to access the Community Hub.

Instructions

WARNING: This SAP GUI with SLC package will UNINSTALL any current SAP GUI installation and Secure Login Client installation and replace it with SAP GUI v800 PL4 and SLC v3.0 PL19.

 

Download SAP GUI with SLC

  1. Go to Purdue Community Hub (URL: https://communityhub.purdue.edu/)
  2. Sign in with Purdue Career Account credentials
  3. Click on “Software Downloads” in the Menu Bar
  4. In the search box, search for “SAP GUI”.  SAP GUI with SLC should populate in the results
  5. Click on the “SAP GUI with SLC” result to open the software window
  6. Click the “Add to cart” button
  7. Click the “Checkout” button
  8. Fill in appropriate notes and click “Next”
  9. Click “Place Order”. 
  10. Once order is placed, a new screen will populate with a Download option.  An email will also be sent with a link to download.
  11. The file “SAPgui8.00p4.zip” will be downloaded.

 

Install SAP GUI with SLC

Note: Administrator privileges are required to install SAP GUI with SLC

WARNING: This SAP GUI with SLC package will UNINSTALL any current SAP GUI installation and Secure Login Client installation and replace it with SAP GUI v800 PL4 and SLC v3.0 PL19.
  1. Extract all files from SAPgui8.00p4.zip
  2. Once all files are extracted, there should be an unzipped folder named “SAPgui8.00p4” that contains all files necessary to install SAP GUI with SLC
  3. Run the “Deploy-Application.exe” file using the “Run as Administrator” option
  4. On the first window to appear, click “Continue” to proceed with the installation
  5. Wait for the installation to complete
  6. Once complete, a Windows notification may be presented
  7. Click “OK” to complete the installation
  8. Check installed versions:
    1. SAP GUI v800 Patch Level 4
    2. SAP Secure Login Client v3.0 Patch Level 19


       

SAP GUI with SLC Registry Information

NOTE: SAP GUI with SLC will add items to the registry. Two of the registry items may need to be addressed after installation.

Registry Locations:
SAP GUI with SLC adds “SAP” keys to the following locations:

  • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\SAP
  • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\SAP

 

Two keys that may need to be checked and deleted after install:

  • appSLS Key - The appSLS key forces the use of Purdue’s Policy Group Host. If multiple clients utilize SNC connections, the appSLS key can be safely deleted.
  • SNC Key - The SNC key will force SNC connections with SAP GUI.  If SNC is not required for other connections, the SNC key can be safely deleted

 

Registry Additions:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\SAP

  • Secure Login
    • Applications
      • appSLS *Forces the use of Purdue Host Policies. Can be safely deleted.
    • Common
      • SNC *Forces SNC connection. Can be safely deleted.
    • Groups
      • User
    • Profiles
      • profSLS *Provides the profSLS profile for authentication to Purdue instances
