How to get your shared drive back.

Instructions

 1.  Navigate to Search Menu on Task Bar

  2.  Type on 'Command Prompt'

  3.  In the command Prompt, type "gpupdate /force" (no quotes)

  4.  Hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard

If you are a remote user, after you reboot, be sure to do Sign-in Before Login by doing the following:

  1.  While at the login screen you will see an icon in the bottom right hand side which has been outlined below.  To run SBL click on this icon:

  2.  Once you do the Cisco Anyconnect sign-in prompt will appear, most users will enter webvpn.purdue.edu for the address.  Sign into the VPN as you normally would.  Once you have done so you are free to log into your computer as normal:

If the drive still isn't there, do the following:

  1.  Navigate to Search Menu on Task Bar

  2.  Type on 'Command Prompt'

  3.  In the command Prompt, type "gpupdate /force" (no quotes)

  4.  Hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard

If you still do not see the drive, it is likely that the drive was manually mapped or does not have an automap group. If you know the path you can map it with the KB listed in the troubleshooting section below or contact the CSC at 765-748-8964.

If the shared drive is not visible, please submit a service request by clicking the "Purdue IT Request" button. Please have the following information available:

  • Name of the server drive
  • Machine name
  • Location of machine

Troubleshooting

Try restarting your computer. This will run the login scripts again and the drive may re-appear.  If you need help instructions on how to manually map a drive, please see How do I map a drive to my network file space?.
