If you are using an iOS device please follow the instructions at How do I initiate a remote desktop connection using an iOS device?.

Connecting remotely from an Android Device requires the use of a third party application.  There are dozens of suitable applications available in the Apple App Store, but this article provides instructions for a free app named Microsoft Remote Desktop.

To connect remotely to your office PC, follow these steps.

  1. If you're off campus, first connect your device to Purdue's VPN service. Instructions can be found at How do I connect to the VPN using an Android device?.
  1. Launch the 'Microsoft Remote Desktop ' app.
  1. Press '+' at the top right corner, then select 'Desktop'.

  1. Enter your computer number in the PC Name field. Under User name choose 'Add user account', put your Purdue Career Account username (onepurdue\username) in the User name field. For security, it's recommended to not enter your password at this time, as the app will store it for all future sessions.

  1.  Select the 'Save' button to go back to the main menu.

  2. Select your newly added PC to initiate the remote connection. You will be prompted for your password.

NOTE: The remote computer to which you're connecting needs to be powered on and not in sleep or hibernate mode in order to connect.
