How do I reset my career account password using challenge questions?

Overview

Challenge questions can help you re-connect to your career account if you've forgotten your password.

Instructions

You need to create your password challenge questions prior to using them to reset your career account password.

To set up your challenge questions

  1. Go to the Purdue IT homepage.
  2. Click on the 'Change your password' link, located in the 'Popular Destinations' section.
  3. Enter your Purdue career account username and password when prompted.
  4. Click on the 'Password Challenge Questions' link in the 'Account Tools' box.
  5. Complete the questions you would like to be asked when you use this service to reset your password. You must complete at least 3 questions.
  6. Click 'Save Changes'.

To use the your challenge questions to change your password

  1. Go to the Purdue IT homepage.
  2. Click on the 'Change your password' link, located in the 'Popular Destinations' section.
  3. Under the 'Log in' box, click the 'Forgot your password?' link.
  4. Enter your 10 digit Purdue ID when prompted, and then click on 'Continue'.
  5. Enter your birthday in the format specified.
  6. You will be prompted to answer your challenge questions.
  7. Once the questions are answered, click 'Continue'. 
  8. You will see a screen which will ask you to enter your new password twice.
  9. The new password may take up to 5 minutes to pass through all systems.
