What is my career account home directory?

Overview

All Purdue students, faculty, and staff automatically receive network storage space, referred to as a career account home directory, with 25 GB of storage.

Home directories are automatically available on all Purdue IT lab computers, and can be accessed from personal computers.  NOTE:  You may need to connect to the VPN if you are off-campus.  Follow these instructions to connect to the VPN:  How do I connect to the Purdue VPN?

NOTE:  If your PC is supported by a Purdue IT department, this drive may already be mapped for you. Please check with your local IT support before proceeding with the steps below.

Instructions for mapping to a network drive in Microsoft Windows can be found at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026635/windows-map-a-network-drive

Instructions for mapping to a network drive in Apple macOS can be found at https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/connect-mac-shared-computers-servers-mchlp1140/mac.  However, you will not be able to browse for the computer or server.  Please choose the option to connect by entering an address and use the information below.

Linux

Due to the variety of versions and environments available,  it is not practical to list all of available ways to map a network drive.

However, for user with Samba packages installed, the following command should work reliably across most common environments: $ smbclient -W boilerad -U <CA username> //nas01.itap.purdue.edu/puhome
