I'm a new admitted student and just accepted my offer, how to I how do I access my Purdue career account and email?

Issue/Symptom: 

• I'm a newly admitted student and need to set up my Purdue career account and email

Environment:  

• West Lafayette Campus

Career Account Setup:  

1. Go to purdue.edu/accountsetup. 

2. Sign up using your 10-digit Purdue ID number (found in the bottom lefthand corner of your Purdue offer of admission letter) and birthday. 

3. Create a password. Click here for tips on creating a strong password. 

4. Select an email setting. It is recommended that new students choose the Purdue Office 365 email option.

5. Set up Purdue email password challenge questions. These questions will help you access email if your password needs changed.

6. Sign up for emergency text notifications and a backup email address. 

7. Your career account and email setup are complete.

Steps to Activate Your Purdue Email: 

1. Access Account Tools: 
   1. Navigate to purdue.edu/apps/account 
   2. Log in with your Purdue credentials. 
2. Activate Office 365 
   1. Locate the "Office 365 Status" section on the right side of the page, within the "Your Account Tools" box. 
   2. Click on "Office 365 Status" to begin activation. 
   3. Use your Purdue Career Account and Password to log in 
3. Change Mailbox Settings: 
   1. After activation, return to purdue.edu/apps/account . 
   2. Click on "Change Mailbox" found in the same "Your Account Tools" box. 
   3. You should now see the option for Purdue Office 365 email, select this option. 

To access your Microsoft 365email: 

1. Go to outlook.com

2. Sign in with your Purdue career account user name and password

3. You should be prompted to set up Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA); follow the steps proved or refernces these instructions from Microsoft:  Set up your Microsoft 365 sign-in for multi-factor authentication
