Connect to the Purdue West Lafayette VPN (Virtual Private Network)

Overview

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to install and use the West Lafayette Purdue VPN through the Cisco Secure Client, ensuring a secure connection to Purdue's network. 

Instructions

To connect to VPN, users must use the Cisco Secure Client application. If this is the first time connecting to VPN, or the first time in a while, it is recommend to uninstall previous versions of the Cisco Secre Client and install a new one following the instructions below.

Uninstalling Previous Programs: 

 1. Remove Existing Cisco/VPN Programs: 

  •  Uninstall any existing Cisco programs or VPN clients that may interfere with the new installation. 

 2. Installation Process: 

  • Visit webvpn.purdue.edu  

  • Sign in using your Purdue Career Account alias for your username 

  • For your password, enter either:  

  • password,push and approve the notification on the Duo Mobile app. 

  • Password,###### with the numbers after the comma being the 6-digit code from your Duo Mobile App 

3. Download and Install 

  • Select 'Download' and open the downloaded launch package. 

  • Proceed with the installation by accepting the license agreement and approving the installation. 

 4. Finalize Installation: 

  •  Click 'Finish' to complete the installation of the necessary VPN add-ons. 

  

Connecting to the VPN: 

 Open Cisco Secure Client: 

  • Launch the Cisco Secure Client and enter `webvpn.purdue.edu` as the server address. 

  •  Click 'Connect' and sign in using the same credentials as used on the website, and authenticating using the Duo App
