FAQ
What is happening?
In June 2024 Purdue IT will be changing usernames for approximately 16,000 Purdue Fort Wayne constituents as follows:
- Students and faculty will have their Purdue system career account username renamed to match their PFW username
- Students whose primary campus is not PFW will have their PFW username renamed to match their Purdue system career account username
- Staff will have their PFW username renamed to match their Purdue system career account username
- No change will be made for faculty and staff whose usernames are already the same
Why is my username being changed?
Usernames are being changed to allow for access to system-wide IT resources and to allow easier implementation of system-wide IT initiatives. Historically, PFW constituents have had challenges accessing resources provided by the Purdue system, and setting usernames to match is a first step towards seamless access.
Can I choose a different username?
Unfortunately, no, different usernames will not be available as part of this initiative because of technical limitations on the change process.
Will my email address change?
You will continue to be able to receive email sent to your oldusername@pfw.edu address, but will log in, and send/receive mail as your new newusername@pfw.edu address.
Will my password change?
No, your password will not be changed as part of this process.
If I have questions or cannot access a system, who should I contact?
