Workaround Instructions
If you are having issues taking the online certification exams found at http://www.purdue.edu/WebCert, try the following steps. A typical symptom involves a person taking a quiz, attempting to answer a question, and being logged out immediately; this is due to the browser not accepting cookies.
Internet Explorer
- Select 'Internet Options' from the 'Tools' drop down menu.
- Click on the 'Privacy' tab and either set privacy to 'Medium High' or 'lower'.
- You can also click the 'Sites' button, type in 'purdue.edu' and click 'Allow' (using option 2 will allow the global privacy setting to be unchanged).
- Click 'Close', and 'OK'.
- Close your browser session and open a new browser session.
Firefox
- Select 'Options' from the 'Tools' drop down menu.
- Click on the 'Privacy' tab and either check 'Accept cookies from sites' or click 'Exceptions', type in 'purdue.edu', and click 'Allow'.
- Click 'Close', and 'OK'.
- Close your browser session and open a new browser session.
Safari
- Select Safari and then 'Preferences' from the Menu.
- Go to the 'Security' tab.
- Under 'Accept Cookies', choose either 'Only from sites you navigate to' or 'Always'.
- Close the 'Preferences' window.
