Purdue Fort Wayne- Missing items on students' grade page (Brightspace)

Overview

A step-by-step explanation when there is a problem in Brightspace that shows Grade Items missing in Grades. 

Instructions

To correct the problem, check all of the Grade Items that are missing in Grades (or the ones with the clock icon to the right of their name) using the following steps:

  1. Go to Grades.
  2. Click Manage Grades.
  3. Scroll to a Grade Item and click it. This opens up the Grade Item for that activity - not the activity itself. This is a very important distinction to make.
  4. Select the Restrictions tab.
  5. Uncheck Has Start Date and Has End Date if you want to the Grade Item to display in Grades without any date restriction. You can safely uncheck Has End Date if you want to gradually role out the Grade Items but leave them in Grades. In other words, they will only show up past the Start Date but then won't be removed from grades.
  6. Click Save and Close. This puts you back in Manage Grades.
  7. Select a new Grade Item and continue until you finish.

Note: This issue occurs when grade items (not the actual assignments, quizzes, etc.) are restricted to a date range.  This means the grade items will only be visible on the Grades page during the set time frame.
