Overview
Depending on their installed software and settings some users may see the following error related to Adobe Reader when trying to view a PDF in PERA .
Error: The document you are trying to load required Adobe Reader 8 or higher. You may not have the Adobe Reader installed or your viewing environment may not be properly configure to used Adobe Reader. For information on how to install Adobe Reader and configure your viewing environment please see http://www.adobe.com/go/pdf_forms_configure.

Instructions
1. To solve this problem you’ll first need to ensure that you’re computer is set to open .pdf files in Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat. You can do this by searching your computer for “Default Apps”.

2. Type “.pdf” into the Set a Default for file type or link type. Once you’ve done so, if Edge or Chrome is shown as the default program click the arrow and change the default program to Reader or Acrobat.

3. Once this has been completed you’ll need to do the following in Edge or Chrome.
Instructions for Edge
- Go to settings

- Click on Cookies and site permissions and scroll down to and click PDF Documents.

- From there you’ll ensure that Always download PDF files is checked.

- You can return to PERA and attempt to view a PDF. You’ll see that the file downloads and you can then open it in Reader or Acrobat.

Instructions for Chrome
1. In Chrome go to Setting and search for “pdf” and click on Sit Settings.

2. Scroll to Additional content settings, if needed expand those settings. Then click on PDF Documents

3. Ensure that Download PDFs is selected.

Use another browser like Chrome or Edge.
