Overview
This article provides information about the PFW Microsoft Account Migration Support Tool for Purdue University Fort Wayne computers. This tool can be used by any PFW user as instructed as part of the PFW Microsoft Tenant Migration Project in October of 2025. This tool is intended to help sign out of all Microsoft 365 apps and services on your computer so you can sign in freshly with your @purdue.edu account.
Instructions
This tool is only available on PFW owned Windows computers.
- Log into Windows as you normally would with your user name. If you are already logged in, save and close any open work. You will need to restart your computer later.
- Double-click the Software Center icon on your Desktop (it is also in the Start menu under the Microsoft Configuration Manager folder).
- Use the search box in the top-right to search for "migration".

- Click the "PFW Microsoft Account Migration Support" Tool entry.
- Click the Install button. This tool will automatically sign you out of Microsoft 365 apps and services like Office and OneDrive. This tool should only take a minute or so.
- You will be prompted to restart your computer afterwards. Please select "Restart now" and click OK.

- A confirmation window will ask again. Click Restart. (If you snooze or cancel the prompt, you may also use the Power button on the Start Menu to restart your computer.)
- Once your computer restarts, sign into Windows again as you normally would with your username and password.
- Open any Microsoft 365 app, such as Word, and Sign in using the button on the top title bar. Important! You will need to sign in using your Purdue Career Account, i.e., yourusername@purdue.edu. Note: You may need to sign out using this button, then sign in again.

- You may be asked if you want to "Allow my organization to manage my device." Uncheck this box. If you are on your employee-assigned computer, click Yes, all apps. Otherwise click No, this app only. If you click "Yes," signing into one app should carry over to the rest of the Microsoft 365 apps.
