Microsoft MFA provides multiple options for authenticating your log in credentials, including the Microsoft Authenticator App, voice calls and text messages to your cell phone, voice calls to a landline office phone, and the use of physical hardware tokens (also called FOBs). It is recommended that users have at least two authentication options registered.
Instructions

Go to myaccount.microsoft.com and log in using your Purdue Career Account information. If you have not yet set up your account, see: How to set up Microsfot MFA

Select Security Info and then “”+Add sign-method.

Select a sign-in method to add.

Follow the instructions for adding an additional method.
NOTE: If you do not own a smartphone, or plan to be in a part of the world where you will not have Internet access and are therefore unable to use Microsoft Authenticator, a physical token may be utilized. Learn more by reading "How do I obtain a physical token (FOB) for MFA?" in the Purdue iT Knowledge Base.
4. You have now created an additional authentication method. If you would like to change the default method for auhtnication, follow these steps:

At the top of Security Info page, you should see a line of text that reads ‘Sign-in method when most advisable is unavailable: Authenticator app or hardware token – code"

- Click the “Change” hyperlink and select the preferred authentication method .
