This article will assist Purdue Fort Wayne faculty, staff and students on the process to create their Zoom account.

Zoom Access

Purdue Fort Wayne faculty, staff, and students will now have access to Zoom accounts through a university-sponsored site license.

Accessing Existing Zoom Account with your @pfw.edu Email

  1. Navigate to https://purdue-edu.zoom.us/ in a web browser.
  2. Select the link for "Login with Email and Password."  (Note: it shows ** Fort Wayne Users ** next to the link).
  3. You will be redirected to the zoom.us/signin page. 
  4. Sign in with your PFW email address (@pfw.edu) and the Password you created for your Zoom account.
  5. You should now be signed into your Zoom account.

Activating my Zoom Account using my @pfw.edu Email

  1. Navigate to https://purdue-edu.zoom.us/ in a web browser.
  2. Select the link for "Login with Email and Password."  (Note: it shows ** Fort Wayne Users ** next to the link).
  3. You will be redirected to the zoom.us/sign page. 
  4. Select the "Sign In" button on the top ribbon, " New to Zoom? Sign up for Free"
  5. Please complete the following form, starting with your birth year.
  6. When you get to the screen asking for your "work email address," please put in your @pfw.edu email address (this goes for faculty, staff, and students). 
  7. You will then be sent a confirmation link to your @pfw.edu email address.
  8. Enter the OTP sent to you @pfw.edu account. Once entered it will ask you to enter your password. Make sure all the criteria for password are met. (Note: this can be different than you @pfw.edu network password)
  9. Once logged in, you will likely be given a message titled "Join Purdue University's Zoom Account" you will want to select View Details or Consolidate Account
  10. You may then be taken to a screen that shows "Start Zoom" if you select this link, you will likely get a message, "Unable to switch to the new Zoom Account."  You will need to wait until you get an email confirmation from Zoom that your Account has been switched (this may take a few hours to receive).
  11. Once you get the email confirmation, you can begin using Zoom with your @pfw.edu email address and Password.
  12. The next time you want to use Zoom, you can navigate to https://purdue-edu.zoom.us/, select "Login with Email and Password", and use your @pfw.edu email address and Zoom password.

Basic Accounts VS Licensed Accounts 

Upon creating the Zoom account using the PFW email address, the Account might still be listed under Basic License. 

Note: 
To access Zoom, PFW users must create an account using their @pfw.edu email address. It is important to note that the account will not automatically upgrade from Basic to Licensed status. This conversion is a manual process that IT_PNW initiates for all Basic users. If a user does not receive a Licensed account within a few days of creating their account, we can escalate the issue to IT_PNW_CSC.
