Instructions

Below are instructions for allowing any file type to a specific directory or a specific file type to any directory

Allow any type of file to be downloaded to a specific directory

  1. Launch the 'SAP GUI'. 
     
  2. Click the colorful icon on the far right hand side of the window. 
     
  3. Choose 'Options…'.

  4. Open the 'Security' folder. 
     
  5. Click on 'Security Settings'.
     
  6. Click the 'Open Security Configuration' button.

  7. Click the 'Insert' button. 
     
  8. If you would like to be able to download any type of file to a specific directory, click the drop-down box to the right of the 'Type' label and choose 'Directory'.

  9. Type in the directory path in the textbox to the right of the 'Object' label.  Be sure to use forward slashes ‘/’ instead of backslashes ‘\’ as shown in the screenshot below.  In addition, be sure to save any files to a secure network location to ensure the security of sensitive or restricted data.

  10. Click the drop-down box to the right of the 'Access Type' label and choose 'Write'. Additionally, you can choose 'Read, write' if you also plan to use this directory for uploads.

  11. Click the 'OK' button. 
     
  12. Repeat steps 7 through 13 to add additional directories. 
     
  13. Click the 'Apply' button. 
     
  14. Click 'OK' and click 'OK' again.
     
  15. Close the 'SAP GUI' and then re-open in order for the new security settings to take effect.

Allow a specific type of file to be downloaded to any directory

  1. Launch the 'SAP GUI'.
     
  2. Click the colorful icon on the far right hand side of the window. 
     
  3. Choose 'Options…'.

  5. Click on 'Security Settings'.

  6. Click the 'Open Security Configuration' button. 
     
  7. Click the 'Insert' button.
     
  8. If you would like to be able to download a specific type of file to any sub-directory, click the drop-down box to the right of the 'Type' label and choose 'File Extension'.

  9. Type in the file extension to the right of the 'Object' label.

  10. Click the drop-down box to the right of the 'Access Type' label and choose 'Write'. Additionally, you can choose 'Read, write' if you also plan to also upload files of this type.

  11. Click the 'OK' button. 
     
  12. Repeat steps 7 through 13 to add additional directories. 
     
  13. Click the 'Apply' button. 
     
  14. Click 'OK' and click 'OK' again.
     
  15. Close the 'SAP GUI' and then re-open it in order for the new security settings to take effect.
