Overview
This article describes how to manage content in Purdue Box.
Instructions
When managing Box content, it is best to do so via the browser interface at https://purdue.box.com/ as this will provide a more accurate picture of what content you currently have stored in Box.
How do I Check my Current Usage?
- Sign-in to https://purdue.box.com
- Click on your profile icon in the top-right and select “Account Settings”:

- Scroll down to “Account Details” and note the usage:

What to Consider When Managing Content
Box should primarily be used for collaboration with other researchers. It may be best to relocate Box content that does not make sense to be there. For example, Office documents (docx, xlsx, pptx, etc) may best be kept in your personal OneDrive account or a SharePoint site from IT if shared with a larger audience.
Empty your Box trash. The deleted content will still be counted against your Box quota. To access trash, you may need to first click on “… More” and then “Trash”:

What About Content in REED Folders?
REED folders, such as those prepended with L2, L3, or L1FR will not count against your quota.
To confirm these folders are indeed proper REED folders, open the folder and check the ownership on the right-hand side. It should display an owner similar to the following:

If these folders show a different owner, please reach out to us via a ticket to it@purdue.edu and we can help manage this content and assist with getting it to where it needs to go.
I Still Need Assistance; What Are My Options?
We in IT can assist if need be. For example, we can help you determine the best place for content if you are uncertain. There are options such as standing up a SharePoint site, or creating a new REED folder to handle research content, etc. If we can be of assistance, please submit an email to it@purdue.edu and we will contact you via the helpdesk. If you find that you are in need of a REED folder for research purposes, please submit an order via this link: https://www.rcac.purdue.edu/purchase
