Zoom Student License Changes

Overview

Student Zoom accounts are transitioning to the new Zoom Workplace for Education Standard Student license. This article summarizes the expected changes and what to know when supporting students.

Student Zoom accounts will continue to include core meeting and collaboration features, but the new student license removes several premium capabilities that were available with the full Zoom Workplace Meetings license. The most noticeable changes are the reduction in meeting duration to 40 minutes and the move from cloud recording storage to local-only recording. Core tools such as Team Chat, Notes, Tasks, Whiteboard, Clips, Canvas, and AI Companion 2.0 remain available.
