Ag - Data Backup and Cloud storage

Overview

This Knowledge Base goes over the cloud platforms available by Purdue for users to store their files and data. Personal data management is the responsibility of each individual user. AgIT is not responsible for users data. This should be read and done immediately, as the user's data is their own responsibility if anything is to happen to the machine. Please note: AgIT is not responsible for backing up your data

Instructions

Use these instructions when first signing in to a Purdue Ag Computer to set up the Cloud Storage on the device for keeping your own data safe. Please note: Sensetive data should be stored on Departmental Drives (ex: Department shared folders *s drive*)

 

Setting up OneDrive on your Ag Computer: 

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Open the OneDrive Application on your computer001_Opening OneDrive App

 

  1. At the sign-in screen, enter your Purdue Email Address and click “sign-in”002_email sign-in to OneDrive

 

  1. After signing in, you will be given information about where your OneDrive folder is located on your computer. This is where all files on the computer should be put so that they will backup to OneDrive.003_Default File Location

 

  1. On the next screen, OneDrive will ask if there are any folders that you would like for OneDrive to backup from this device.
    1. The default folder selection will be Documents, Pictures, and Desktop. You can turn the deselect any folders you do not want backed up to OneDrive.004_Default Backed up folders
  2. OneDrive will begin moving all folders and files requested to be backed up into the requested folder
  3. From here, you can find OneDrive on your File Explorer. Selecting it will show all files available from OneDrive for you to access. You can access it from the application pane at the bottom-right of the computer, as well.005_OneDrive Location in File Explorer006_OneDrive Location in Application Pane
  4. All files uploaded to OneDrive can be accessed on any other computer or phone that you download the OneDrive application on and sign in to. You can access all files on Onedrive.com, as well.
