Lost access to your Microsoft Authenticator? How to reconnect to Microsoft MFA.

Overview

If you have a new phone, or lost access to your Microsoft Authenticator App, you may still be able to access your Purdue email.

Instructions

  1. Go to https://outlook.office.com/ and log in with your Purdue email address and Purdue career account password.
  2. Select “I can’t use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now” and choose a call or text to sign in.

If you do not see the option for a phone call or a text, you have not set up alternative authentication and will need to contact the Purdue IT Service Desk at 765-494-4000 to request a reset of your Authenticator App. For security reasons, resets are only done over the phone, in-person at a service desk, or via a video call.

Resetting the Microsoft Authenticator App

By following the steps above, you should be able to access your Microsoft Outlook email and Microsoft 365 applications.

However, if you didn’t back up the Microsoft Authenticator app on your old device and transfer it to your new one, you'll need to reset it on the new device. To have your Microsoft Authenticator App reset, you must contact the Purdue IT Service Desk by calling 765-494-4000 or visit a service desk location.
