SharePoint Restricted Data Storage is the designated location for the storage of restricted data within the Purdue Multi-Campus Production Microsoft 365 tenant. Individual researchers and/or departments may request that a SharePoint Restricted Data Storage site be created for the storage of restricted data (this is NOT appropriate for export control or controlled unclassified information (CUI) data). These sites will consist of 2 document libraries named “Purdue Only” and “Purdue and External”.
“Purdue Only” document libraries will automatically apply the sensitivity label “Restricted Data – Purdue Only” to all files added to the library. This sensitivity label will restrict access to only those that have been granted access to the file and have access to PWL M365 tenant.
“Purdue and External” document libraries will automatically apply the sensitivity label “Restricted Data – Purdue and External” to all files added to the library. This sensitivity label will also restrict access to only those that have been granted access but will also allow for external individuals to be granted temporary access via a 2-factor authentication process where they will be emailed a validation code to gain access to the file.
When requesting a SharePoint Restricted Data Storage site, the Principal Investigator (PI) or department representative will confirm agreement with an End User Agreement (EUA). The EUA will provide information for maintaining security of the data and outline the responsibilities of the owner of the SharePoint Restricted Data Storage site.
