Self-migration of Box to OneDrive

Overview

Instructions on moving content from your Purdue Box acount toMicrosoft OneDrive.

Instructions

If you have Box and/or OneDrive software already synced to your machine, you may simply drag and drop the contents from your Box folder to your OneDrive folder on your machine and allow it to sync.

The above option will take a potentially substantial amount of hard drive disk space, and may not be feasible. The recommendation is to first download content from Box and then upload to OneDrive via web browser.  Note that depending on the amount of content and available drive space on your machine, you may need to do this in batches (a few folders or files at a time). NOTE: This method is not to be used with sensitive / restricted (REED) content. This content may remain where it is; If there is a need to migrate this content, please contact Purdue IT at it@purdue.edu

The next steps outline how to upload the content into your OneDrive folders:

  • Open the browser that you’ve signed into OneDrive at in the previous steps
