Overview
Instructions for getting remote access to SAPGUI using VPN.
Instructions
NOTE: If you are using RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) to access your campus machine while working from home and need to use SAPGUI from there, you will need to use two different VPN (Virtual Private Network) connections. The first will allow you to remote into your campus machine, and the second will allow you to access ECP (EC Payroll) and S/4 (Finance & EAM) via SAPGUI.
- Using the VPN tool (i.e. Cisco AnyConnect) on your home machine, connect to WEBVPN2.PURDUE.EDU
- Remote into your computer on campus.
- Using the VPN tool on your campus computer, connect to WEBVPN.PURDUE.EDU/SAPGUI
This combination should give you access to your campus machine plus use of SAPGUI with ECP (EC Payroll) and S/4 (Finance & EAM).
NOTE: Cisco AnyConnect connections expire after 7 days of use, or 2 hours of inactivity, whichever network behavior is detected first. Remaining connected to email, Skype, or another program that generates network activity will maintain the vpn connection for up to 7 days.
- Click on the 'Start' button in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen or press the 'Windows' button you your keyboard and type 'AnyConnect'.
- 'Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client' will appear in the list of programs in the 'Start' menu. Click on this program.
- A small window will pop up, in the text field type in WEBVPN.PURDUE.EDU/SAPGUI if connecting to SAPGUI resources.
NOTE: Please contact your local IT support to determine if you should use a different VPN.
- A dialog box will pop up asking for your username and password. Please use your BoilerKey password (PIN,PUSH) for this. Click 'OK'.
- Once you have completed your BoilerKey authentication, you will connect to the VPN. The first time you connect may take a little longer than usual, but it will likely take less than 15 seconds.
- Confirm you are connected by looking in the system tray (the icons near the clock in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen) for the Cisco AnyConnect logo. Confirm there is a padlock icon displaying on the top of the logo. This means you are connected.
- To change VPNs or disconnect from the VPN, right-click on the 'AnyConnect' logo in the system tray and click 'Disconnect'. Start from step 1 to reconnect to a new VPN.
