This article provides Purdue Fort Wayne students, faculty, and staff, instructions for connecting to the wireless network.
Instructions
The Purdue Fort Wayne wireless SSID is intended to be used by Purdue Fort Wayne students, faculty, and staff. Visitors from other campuses may try the eduroam SSID given that their institution is a member of eduroam. Other visitors must request a temporary wireless guest account to connect to the Visitor Purdue Fort Wayne SSID.
Purdue University Fort Wayne can now utilize a cloud-based, SecureW2 application to automate and simplify connecting devices to campus Wi-Fi. Purdue University Fort Wayne SecureW2 for Connecting to Wi-Fi
Wireless Configuration for Windows 10
- Open the Start menu (Windows logo)
- Click the Settings icon (gear/cog)
- Click Network & Internet.
- Select Wi-Fi on the left.
- You should see a list of nearby wireless networks. Select Purdue Fort Wayne and click Connect.
- Enter your Purdue Fort Wayne username and password.
- Click Connect.
- Note: You may be asked to use or accept the system certificate. Click Connect to proceed.
Wireless Configuration for macOS
- Click the Apple logo in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
- Select System Preferences.
- Click Network.
- Select Wi-Fi on the left.
- Click the drop-down menu next to Network Name:.
- Select Purdue Fort Wayne from the list.
- Enter your Purdue Fort Wayne username and password.
- Click Join.
- Click Continue if prompted.
Wireless Configuration for Chromebook
- Click on the Wi-Fi network named Purdue Fort Wayne in the settings.
- Fill out the connecting information with this criteria:
- SSID: Purdue Fort Wayne
- FEAP Method: PEAP
- Phase 2 authentication: Automatic
- Server CA Certificate: Don't validate
- Subject match: Leave empty
- Domain suffix match: Leave empty
- Identity: Insert PFW Username. For eduroam, use the full email address.
- Password: Insert PFW password
- Anonymous Identity: Leave empty
- Now click Connect.
Wireless Configuration for Android
- From the Home screen, find and tap Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Under Available Networks tap Purdue Fort Wayne.
- Configure the settings as follows:
- EAP method: PEAP
- CA certificate: Use system certificates
- Domain: pfw.edu
- Identity: your PFW username
- Anonymous identity: leave blank
- Password: your PFW password
- Tap Advanced.
- Tap Phase 2 authentication and set it to MSCHAPV2.
- Tap Save.
- Tap Connect.
Note: Each version of Android may be a little different.
Wireless Configuration for iOS
- From the Home screen, find and tap Settings.
- Tap Wi-Fi. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned ON.
- Under Choose a Network, select Purdue Fort Wayne.
- Under Enter Password enter your Purdue Fort Wayne username and password.
- Tap Join.
- On the Certificate page, tap Trust located at the top-right corner.
- You should then be returned to the Wi-Fi Networks page, where you can see a check mark in front of Purdue Fort Wayne and the fan shaped signal strength symbol with solid lines, which indicates that the Purdue Fort Wayne wireless connection is now established.
