Purdue Fort Wayne- Connecting Devices to Wired Network

Overview

The document explains how to register a device for a wired network connection at Purdue Fort Wayne by using the mydevices.pfw.edu website and entering the device's name and MAC address.

Instructions

  1. In a web browser, while connected to a Purdue Fort Wayne network, go to mydevices.pfw.edu and enter your username and password.
  2. Click Add and enter your device’s name and MAC Address.
    1. Your device’s MAC Address may be called a Wi-Fi Address.  The MAC Address is a series of six pairs of characters containing numbers from 0-9 and letters from A-F separated by colons. For example: “11:22:33:AA:BB:CC”
    2. Your device may have multiple MAC Addresses (one for wired connections and one for wireless connections). Enter the MAC Address for the desired connection.
    3. Users may enter up to five MAC Addresses.
  3. Enter your device name, MAC address, and its description (optional).
  4. Click Submit.

Connecting Devices to Wired Network

 In order to connect your device through a wired connection, you must first register your device:

  1. In a web browser, while connected to a Purdue Fort Wayne network, go to mydevices.pfw.edu and enter your username and password.
  2. Click Add and enter your device’s name and MAC Address.

    2. Your device may have multiple MAC Addresses (one for wired connections and one for wireless connections). Enter the MAC Address for the desired connection.

 NOTE: Devices will self-delete 10 months from the day they were entered.

Nintendo Switch

  1. On the home screen, navigate to “System Settings”.
  2. Scroll down to “Internet”.

PlayStation 4

  1. On the PlayStation 4 main menu, navigate to the “Settings” icon in the upper menu bar.
  2. In the Settings menu, navigate to “System”.
  3. In the System menu, navigate to “System Information”.

Xbox One

  1. On the Xbox One main menu, press the Xbox button and navigate to “Settings” on the side menu.
  2. In the Settings menu, navigate to “Network Settings”.
  3. In the Network Settings menu, navigate to “Advanced Settings”.

Roku

  1. On the Roku main menu, navigate to “Settings”.
  2. In the Settings menu, navigate to “Network”.

Amazon Fire TV / Stick

  1. In the main menu, navigate to “Settings”.
  2. In the settings menu, navigate to “System”.
  3. In the System menu, navigate to “About”.
  4. Scroll down to “Network”.
