How do I troubleshoot issues taking the online data and privacy certification exams?

Workaround Instructions

If you are having issues taking the online certification exams found at http://www.purdue.edu/WebCert, try the following steps.  A typical symptom involves a person taking a quiz, attempting to answer a question, and being logged out immediately; this is due to the browser not accepting cookies.

Internet Explorer

  1. Select 'Internet Options' from the 'Tools' drop down menu.
  2. Click on the 'Privacy' tab and either set privacy to 'Medium High' or 'lower'.
  3. You can also click the 'Sites' button, type in 'purdue.edu' and click 'Allow' (using option 2 will allow the global privacy setting to be unchanged).
  4. Click 'Close', and 'OK'.
  5. Close your browser session and open a new browser session.

Firefox

  1. Select 'Options' from the 'Tools' drop down menu.
  2. Click on the 'Privacy' tab and either check 'Accept cookies from sites' or click 'Exceptions', type in 'purdue.edu', and click 'Allow'.
  3. Click 'Close', and 'OK'.
  4. Close your browser session and open a new browser session.

Safari

  1. Select Safari and then 'Preferences' from the Menu.
  2. Go to the 'Security' tab.
  3. Under 'Accept Cookies', choose either 'Only from sites you navigate to' or 'Always'.
  4. Close the 'Preferences' window.
