Overview

Listserv has many common keywords that a user may not know what they mean when using this application. 

Instructions

The common keywords can be described as: 

  1. Auto-Delete:

    • If there are issues sending mail to a subscriber (after 4 errors), they will be automatically unsubscribe, and the owner will receive an error report.
    • Otherwise, the list owner will receive an error report without taking any action.
  2. Confidential:

    • If set to “Yes,” the list won’t appear in the list of lists.
    • If set to “No,” it will appear in the list of lists (but not in the subscriber’s corner unless requested).
  3. Default Options:

    • “Repro”: New subscribers receive a copy of their own posts.
    • “Noack”: New subscribers don’t receive acknowledgments for their posts.
  4. Editor:

    • List of all editors (people who can post to the list without approval).
  5. Moderator:

    • List of all moderators (who approve posts before distribution).
  6. Notify:

    • “Yes”: Owner is notified when someone unsubscribe.
    • “No”: Owner isn’t notified.
  7. Owner:

    • List of all owners (keep the number minimal).
  8. Reply-to:

    • “List,Respect”: Replies to list messages are addressed to the list address.
    • “Sender,Ignore”: Replies are addressed to the sender.
  9. Review:

    • Only owners can get a list of subscribers.
  10. Send:

    • “Editor,Hold,Confirm”: Only specific roles can post; other messages require approval.
    • “Send=Private”: All authorized roles can send to the list.
  11. Subscription:

    • “By_owner”: Subscription requests forwarded to the owner for acceptance/rejection.
    • “Open,Confirm”: Anyone can subscribe after confirming their email.
    • “Closed”: No one can subscribe; requests aren’t forwarded.
  12. Validate:

    • “Yes,Confirm”: Protected commands require confirmation.
