Instructions

Creating a self-extracting file with encryption using 7-Zip:

  1. Browse and Locate File:

    • Navigate to the location of the file you want to zip.
  2. Right-Click and Select 7-Zip:

    • Right-click the file name.
    • Choose “7-Zip” from the context menu.
    • Select “Add to archive.”
  3. Configure Archive Settings:

    • In the “Add to Archive” window:
      • Click the ellipsis (…) button to browse and locate the file you want to archive and encrypt.
      • Check the box next to “Create SFX archive.”
      • Enter a password and re-enter it for confirmation.
      • Choose the encryption method (AES-256).
      • Leave other fields at their default settings and click “OK.”
  4. Resulting .exe File:

    • The resulting .exe file will appear in the same folder as the original document.
  5. Recipient Access:

    • The recipient can open the file by double-clicking it, without needing WinZip or 7-Zip installed on their computer.
