Understanding how to add and import Mailbox content from a .pst file.
Instructions
The steps to import mailbox content from a .pst file into Outlook:
- Open Outlook Data File:
- In Outlook 2016 or 2013, go to the File tab, then Open & Export, and choose “Open Outlook Data File.”
- Browse to the .pst file you want to open and click Open.
- For Outlook 2010, the data file will be listed in Account Settings after clicking OK.
- Importing (Merging) Items:
- With Outlook open, select File, then Open & Export, and choose Import/Export.
- In the Import and Export Wizard, select “Import from another program or file,” then Next.
- Choose “Outlook Data File (.pst)” in the next window.
- If needed, click Browse to locate the .pst file on your computer.
- Decide how to handle duplicate items (e.g., Allow duplicates to be created).
- Select the main folder to import and check “Include subfolders” if desired.
- Ensure “Import items into the same folder in: your email address (or your name)” is selected.
- Click Finish to complete the import process.
By following these steps, you can merge .pst file content into your current Outlook profile.
