Overview
A set of requirements that staff and faculty has to take before someone can install software on a computer.
Instructions
Here is the guidelines for having software available to install from the Purdue Fort Wayne network:
- Software Requests:
- Faculty and staff can request software for network installation.
- Useful for student labs where students lack administrative rights.
- If a package requires admin rights, it must be available via network install.
- Provide 2 Weeks Notice:
- Network installation can take time, especially at the start of the semester.
- Requests with less than 2 weeks notice may not be honored.
- Adhere to Licensing Terms:
- Requesters must provide license restriction details (e.g., concurrent users) for legal compliance.
- Consider System Compatibility:
- Not all applications may run successfully on lab servers.
- IT Services will make reasonable efforts but may reject or modify installation if technical limitations exist.
- Consult with IT Services Before Purchasing:
- Verify application compatibility before spending money.
Remember to plan ahead and follow these guidelines for efficient software deployment!
