Instructions

Moving documents and files to your SharePoint site is straightforward. Here are a few methods you can use:

  1. Modern Experience (SharePoint Online):
    • Navigate to the source folder or document library within SharePoint.
    • Select the files and folders you want to move.
    • Click the “Copy to” button from the command bar (or right-click and choose “Copy to”).
    • In the small window that appears, select the destination site and document library.
    • Optionally, choose a specific folder within the destination library.
    • Click “Copy here” to complete the process.
  2. Alternative Method: Use Power Automate:
    • If you encounter any issues or need more advanced automation, consider using Power Automate (previously known as Microsoft Flow). It allows you to create custom workflows for moving files between SharePoint sites.

Remember to check your permissions:

  • As a site owner or someone with full control permissions, you can easily move files.
  • For the source site, you need at least edit permissions.
  • For the destination site, you need at least contribute permissions.
  • If you’re moving files shared with you, ensure you have the necessary permissions.
