Instructions

Adding headers and footers in Microsoft Word is straightforward. Here are the steps:

  1. Insert a Header or Footer:
    1. Go to the Insert tab.
    2. In the Header & Footer section, click either Header or Footer.
    3. Choose from the built-in designs or create your own custom header or footer.
  2. Customize Your Header or Footer:
    1. Once you’ve inserted a header or footer, you can type the desired text, add page numbers, dates, or other elements.
    2. To edit the header or footer, double-click it. Note that the main document text will be grayed out while editing the header or footer.
    3. Use the Design tab that appears to make adjustments.
    4. To switch between header and footer, click Go to Footer in the Design tab.
  3. Close Header and Footer:
    1. When you’re done, click Close Header and Footer in the Design tab.
    2. Alternatively, double-click the grayed-out text in the main body to return to editing the document.

Remember, headers and footers are great for adding page numbers, dates, and other information to your Word documents!
