How do I stop unwanted Duo notifications?

How to stop, report, and mute fraudulent Duo authentication attempts.

Issue/Symptom:  

  • My phone is receiving notifications from Duo asking me to authenticate when I am not attempting to log in to a Purdue service  

Environment:   

  • Duo Mobile App  

Identifying and muting fraudulent push attempts 

  1. On the Approve or Deny page, select “I'm not logging in” 

  2. Duo will ask, "Was this a suspicious login?"   If you did not attempt to log in, click “yes”  

  3.  A message will be sent to the system administrator and notifications from Duo on your device will be muted for the next 20 minutes. 

Accessing services while your Duo notifications are muted 

  1.  After signing into Purdue Login, open the Duo Mobile app on your device (you will not receive a notification for 20 minutes after reporting a suspicious attempt). 

  2. Enter the 3-digit code displayed on the Duo Authentication webpage.

  1. Click the “Approve” button to complete authentication.  

Further security steps you should take if you receive fraudulent authentication steps 

  1. Consider changing your Career Account password if you continue to receive fraudulent Duo notifications. To learn how, see “How to change your career account password.”
